Clarification Regarding Deduction House Rent Allowance and 5% Maintenance Charges from Salary of Civil Servant / Deceased Allottee

Government of the Punjab, Services & General Administration Department has issued Notification on 11-03-2019 in connection with Clarification Regarding Deduction House Rent Allowance and 5% Maintenance Charges from Salary of Civil Servant / Deceased Allottee. Detail is as under:

Clarification Regarding Deduction House Rent Allowance and 5% Maintenance Charges

I am directed to refer to your office letter No. 3526/Audit/LHC, dated 27.02.2019 on the subject noted above.

2.  In this context, it is intimated that the Estate office, S&GAD, Punjab has already made on amendment in allotment policy regarding retention of Government accommodation and rent deduction from the salary of deceased civil servant, in May 2018. As per amendment widow/family of deceased civil are given rent free accommodation meaning thereby they would not be charged 5% rent deduction (maintenance charges)which is mandatory in all other cases.

3.   However, widow/family of deceased civil servant who is occupying rent free residence would not be entitled to draw house rent allowance (45%) which is given in lieu of government accommodation.
