Government of the Punjab, School Education Department has issued Notification No. SO (TRG)2-84/2014 dated 23-02-2015 in connection with Usage of Takhti/Slate from Class 1 to 3 in Primary Schools.

According to this Notification, Directorate of Staff Development, Lahore has recently taken an initiative of calligraphic competition in all Discticts of Punjab. It has been observed that this initiative has positive impact in improving writing skills of students. Keeping in view the results of study conducted by DFID regarding Literacy and Numeracy Drive and after detailed discussion/consultation a Daily Schedule/Timetable for class 1-3 is prepared on the basis of practices being executed in United Kingdom and Singapore for next academic calendar with effect from 1st April 2015 wherein special periods for English and Urdu writing pratices are introduced. In addition of improvement in writing skills, fair handwriting is also a basic skill and requirement for quality education.

You are therefore directed to ensure the use of Takhti/Slate for students of class one to three.
