Hiring of Private Persons Munshis by Tehsildars & Patwaris

Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lahore issued a Notification on 03-09-2022 in connection with the Hiring of Private Persons / Munshis by Tehsildars & Patwaris. In this way, there will be no Munshis in Patwar Khanas. The details are as under:

It is intimated the board of revenue, Punjab vides letter no 2286-2017/980-E(M)I dated 20.12.2017 has conveyed Mr.Justice Abdul Aziz, Hon’ble Judge, Lahore High Court, Lahore vide order dated 21.12.2017 passed in Crl.Misc. No.51231-B of 2017 titled Muhammad Adnan vs the State etc. issued direction to a senior member, Board of Revenue, Punjab to circulate the copy of said order in all revenue circles for its strict compliance.
Consequently, the Board of Revenue, Punjab issued directions to all Deputy Commissioners in Punjab to ensure that no private person/munshi are working in Patwar Khana. If they find guilty of a violation of the above orders/instructions, the concerned revenue officer would be responsible. The office will take disciplinary action against him along with penal action against the concerned Mushi / private person.

The above instructions of the Board of Revenue, Punjab has circulated to all concerned vide this office letter No.NTO/02 dated 04.01.2018 and followed by another letter No. NTO/03 dated 03.05.2021.

In view of the above, you are once again directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore, and Board of Revenue, Punjab. If any private person/munshi, they found engaged/working in Patwar Khana during a surprise inspection, the office will lodge an FIR against the munshi. The office will also take disciplinary action against the concerned patwari.
