Grant of M.Phil Allowance to School Teachers Decision of the Ombudsman Punjab

The Ombudsman Province Punjab has made a decision on 16-05-2013 regarding the M.Phil Allowance to the school teachers at the same rate as are getting the college level teachers.

Mr. Muhammad Shafiq Aasim along with eight other school teachers of Faisalabad/Shekhupura districts seek a direction to the Finance Department Punjab for grant of M.Phil Allowance to the teachers of schools having M.Phil qualification at the rates being allowed to the teachers of colleges i.e Rs. 5000/- per month.

When called upon to submit the status of the complaint, Finance Department reported that facility @ 5000/- PM of the said allowance to all Govt servants across the board working under the administrative control of the Govt of Punjab has been allowed vide their letter No. FD.SR.I-9-21/2011 dated 1st April 2013 subject to the condition that they acquire the M.Phil Degree from the recognized universities of Higher Education Commission.

After issue of the above notification discrimination among the college and school teachers stood removed. It was considered a welcome step to provide an incentive to Govt servants across the board to improve of wealth of knowledge.

Secrertary (School Education) Govt of the Punjab, AG Punjab and DAOs Faisalabad/Shekhupura are directed to implement the above decision within one month from the date of issue of this order under intimation to this office.
