The Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance, has already issued an office memorandum on 25-09-2025 in connection with the Revision of the Rental Ceiling for Hiring Residential Accommodation 2025. The details are as follows:

As per the Notification, the undersigned refers to the Ministry of Housing and Works Office Memorandum dated 23 Oct 2024 and the correspondence resting with the Ministry of Housing and Works on the subject of Rental Ceiling of Hiring at six specified stations. The undersigned conveys that the Finance Division endorses an increase of 85% in the rental ceiling for hiring residential accommodation across the board.
The Ministry of Housing and Works requests to process the summary be processed for the Cabinet accordingly.

- Rawalpindi
- Quetta
- Lahore
- Peshawar
- Karachi

There was another about the increase in House Rent Allowance for the Employees. The representative of the Federal Government employees, Mr. Rehman Ali Bajwa, has rejected the news of an increase in HRA for the Government employees. He said that there was only a summary for the increase in the Rental Ceiling of Hiring. But the mainstream media mentioned in the news that the employees are getting HRA on the initial 2008 Basic pay scales. If we look at the news saying the 2008 Basic Pay scales, then it should be HRA.
The summary is indeed for the Rental ceiling of Hiring, but there should be an increase of 85% in HRA. The rates of accommodations have been increased all over Pakistan, not only in these six specified cities. The representatives of the employees should raise their voice for these employees, too, who are getting just the House Rent Allowance.
