The Government of the Punjab School Education Department has announced the Extension of the Winter Vacation 2026 in Punjab schools and colleges. The Higher Education Department will also announce the same. As per the Education Minister of Punjab, the Punjab Govt and Private Schools will remain closed till 19th January 2026 instead of 11th January 2026.

Extension Winter Vacation 2026 in Punjab Schools / Colleges

Previously, the schools in Punjab would have to open on 12 Jan 2026 (Monday). Now the Punjab Government has extended the winter holidays 2026 by one week. The schools will re-open now on 19-01-2026 (Monday).

Keeping in view the weather conditions in the province, the Punjab Government has taken a good decision; the safety of the students and teachers is the first priority of the Education Minister.

Before this, the Education Minister of Punjab shared a survey on social media about whether to open or not the schools on 12 January 2026. As per the survey, 88% people supported opening the schools on 19-01-2026. I have already shared the details of updates on opening schools on 12 Jan or 19 Jan 2026 at the same platform, and now the education minister has followed the survey.
