As per the daily Dunya newspaper dated 21-01-2026, the government of Pakistan is making preparations to grant relief to the salaried persons/government employees in the coming budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. The Government will make the IMF agree not impose any further tax and give relief to the employees.
How Much Relief?

Main Demands of the Government Employees
There are many demands of the Government employees. They are expecting a reasonable increase in salaries for them in the Budget 2026-2027. The main demands are as follows:
- Merging of All Adhoc Relief Allowances into Basic Pay
- Increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Introduction of Revised Pay Scales 2026
- Grant of the remaining 30% Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) 2026
- Increase in Medical Allowance
- Increase in Conveyance Allowance
Relief in Budget 2025-26
The Federal Government granted some relief in the previous Budget 2025-2026 and announced the Adhoc Relief Allowance 2025 @ 10% in Budget 2025-26. In addition to that, the Government also granted Disparity Reduction Allowance 2025 @ 25% of the basic pay of the 2017 Pay Scales.
