Notification Punjab Schools Barred From Forcing Book & Uniform Purchases

The Government of the Punjab School Education Department issued a Notification on 22-01-2026 in connection with Punjab Schools Barred From Forcing Book & Uniform Purchases.  The notification clearly warns private schools against pressuring parents and outlines strict legal action for violations. The details are as follows:

Punjab Schools Barred From Forcing Book & Uniform Purchases

As per the Notification, it is hereby notified for the information of the general public that under Section 7A(10) of the Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion & Regulation) Ordinance, 1984, no private educational institution is allowed to compel parents or guardians to purchase textbooks, uniforms, or any other school-related items from a particular shop, vendor, or service provider.

Any private school found forcing or pressuring parents to purchase books, uniforms, or other materials from designated outlets shall be treated as committing a serious violation of the law. Such institutions shall be liable to strict legal action, including penalties and other measures as provided under the Ordinance and relevant rules.

Parents and members of the public are strongly encouraged to report such unlawful practices to the concerned District Registration Authority (DRA) established in the office of the Chief Executive Officer, District Education Authority concerned, or lodge complaints online on the Citizen Relationship Management Portal, Govt. of Punjab.

It is a good step by the Government of the Punjab. This action of the Punjab Govt will really facilitate the parents.
