Revision Rental Ceiling for Hiring Assessment Less Rates

The Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Housing and Works, issued a Notification on 27-01-2026 in connection with the Revision Rental Ceiling for Hiring Assessment Less Rates for self-hiring and hired house. The details are as follows:

Notification No.1S(4)/2022-POLICY Islamabad, Dated: 27th January, 2026

As per the Notification, I am directed to refer to the M/o Defence (Defence Division), Rawalpindi, F.No. 9/1/2018/D-26(ADMIN-D)-P-005 dated 14.01.2026, on the subject cited above, and to say that:-

In case of self-hiring and continued hiring where the house is of the entitlement of an FGS, the increase in rental ceiling is fully applicable, irrespective of the fact that the rent assessment was less than the revised rental ceiling. However, the rent will be enhanced upto owner’s demand at the time of signing orthe rental ceiling of the employee, whichever is less.
In case of fresh hiring, the department has to ensure that the rental ceiling is not paid above the assessed rent.

M/o Defence (Defence Division) may take further necessary action accordingly.
