Notification on Four-Day Workweek and Salary Forgo Option in Pakistan

Cabinet Division Notification issued the latest on 10th March, 2026, in connection with the earlier Cabinet Division notification dated 9th March, 2026. This update explains the revised four-day workweek, off days, and the voluntary salary forgo option for certain government officials in Pakistan.

Notification Regarding Pakistan Four Day Workweek Schedule

No.7-2/2026-Min.I.— In continuation of Cabinet Division’s notification of even number dated 9th March, 2026, the four-day workweek, mentioned at paras 1B(1)(ii) & 1B(2)(ii) of the notification ibid, shall be as follows:

Working Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Off Days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

  1. Furthermore, para 1A(v) of the abovementioned notification reads as follows:

(v) Government officials working in all Federal and Provincial Government establishments in BS-20 and above (or equivalent), or those with a monthly salary of PKR 300,000 or more, irrespective of pay scale, may voluntarily forgo two days’ salary, excluding government officials serving in the health and education sectors;

3. These issues with the approval of the Cabinet Secretary.
