KP fuel conservation measures were issued by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Administration Department (Cabinet Wing), issued the latest on 09th March, 2026, in connection with temporary fuel conservation and responsible governance measures for two months. The notification explains steps about virtual meetings, reduced non-essential travel, official vehicle use, district monitoring, and implementation reporting.
Notification on KP Fuel Conservation Measures and Governance Steps
Implementation of Provincial Fuel Conservation & Responsible Governance Measures (Temporary Measures – Duration: Two Months)
As per the Notification
I am directed to refer to the above noted subject and to communicate the decision of the Provincial Cabinet in its meeting today i.e. March 9, 2025, whereby, in view of the evolving regional situation affecting petroleum supplies and prices, and the possible pressure on national foreign exchange reserves, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a set of temporary fuel conservation and responsible governance measures for a period of two months aimed at reducing non-essential fuel consumption while protecting economic activity, Eid mobility and agricultural operations with the request to ensure immediate implementation of the following measures:

Digital Governance & Reduction of Physical Meetings
Government offices shall reduce non-essential travel through digital coordination.
Actions:
• All Administrative Departments shall issue internal instructions making virtual meetings the default mode for official meetings.
• mandatory use of virtual platforms for meetings;
• measures to minimize non-essential travel.

Departments and district administrations shall maintain a record of official vehicle utilization and fuel consumption during the period to ensure adherence to the approved fuel rationalization measures.

Secretaries of Administrative Departments and Divisional Commissioners shall ensure that official vehicles are used strictly for essential government purposes. Any misuse or excessive utilization of official vehicles in violation of these instructions shall entail administrative responsibility, and appropriate disciplinary action may be initiated under the relevant government rules.

Deputy Commissioners shall ensure daily monitoring of fuel availability in their respective districts and take prompt action against hoarding, overpricing or artificial shortages.

Divisional Commissioners shall supervise district implementation and ensure compliance with the above directions across their divisions.

All Departments and Divisional Commissioners shall submit twice a weekly implementation reports to the Chief Secretary’s Office, covering:
• implementation of conservation measures;
• fuel availability situation;
• enforcement actions against hoarding or overpricing;
• compliance with vehicle fuel rationalization measures.
The responsibility of implementation of these measures shall rest with the concerned Administrative Secretaries and Divisional Commissioners.
