Amendment in Federal Employees Benevolent & Group Insurance Rules 1972 wef 1st December 2013

With Reference to Establishment Division, Federal Employees Benevolent & Group Insurance Funds, Office Memorandum No. 18-22/Act-Amdt/Plan/2013 dated 16th December 2013 & Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division Notification No. 5/19/2012-Admn-III dated 4th December 2013 there has been made amendment in Federal Employees Benevolent & Group Insurance Rules 1972 wef 1st December 2013 and hence the Revised Rates of Group Insurance for FG Employees has been issued.

However the revised rates of Sum Assured on Death during service and Lump sum grant on Invalid Retirement shall be admissible to Non-Gazetted Federal Government Employees (BPS-01 to BPS-16) wef 01-07-2014 subject to receipt of contribution from the Finance Division at revised rates in respect of such employees. There has been made the following amendments in Rule 6(A) and 23 of the FEBF &GI Rules-1972.

The minimum rate of Sum Assured on death has been raised to Rs. 350,000/- with the maximum of Rs. 1,000,000/- as per column (4) of the Eighth Schedule (Annexure-A).

The minimum rate of Lump sum grant on invalid retirement has been raised to Rs. 150,000/- with the maximum of Rs. 390,000/- as per column 3 of Ninth Schedule (Annexure-B)

The rate of monthly contribution towards Group Insurance Fund has been raised as per column 3 of Eight Schedule (Annexure-A).

The Eighth Schedule (Group Insurance)

The rates of contribution to the Group Insurance Fund and amount of sum assured wef 1st December 2013 is as under:

A Lump Sum Grant shall be paid to an Invalid Employee with effect from 01-12-2013 is as under:

  1. kindly explain what about group insurance monthly deduction/contribution of non gazetted employees of BPS-16…???? deduction should be made from their salaries or not

    monthly benevolent fund grant 100% update this month notification.
    but why not update before people? it is against of Article 25 (Equality of citizens, All citizens are Equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law and benefit.

  3. Dear Agha sb,
    Please let me confirm my father case.
    My father was died in Sep, 2012 and i have not yet submitted application for GI and BF grant due to non availability of revised pay slip of last month (promoted to BS 16 from 15 in Jan 2012).
    Will monthly Benavolent Funds grant issued from Oct 2012 (18 months) and onwords or only after the date i submitted application (with necessory documents).

    Plz tell me about Group insurance when it would be given to employee on retirement ???? or in case of death will be given to family.

      1. Two kinds of payments are admissible out of Group Insurance Fund.

        First, upon death of the employee in service, the sum assured is paid.

        Second, upon retirement on invalid pension on medical grounds, a lump sum payment is made on the scale given in 9th schedyle.

        These payments are apart from the monthly and other grants out of Ben Fund

        ps This relates to the Federal GI & BF . I am not sure if Provincial GI & BF also provide for second kind of lump payment (upon invalid pension).

        Shall be grateful if someone explains the Provincial GI & BF position on invalid retirement.

THE SAME DEDUCATION START HAS BEEN FRIST AND THE NOT GIVEN THE PAYMETS AS PER SPRIT OF LETTER .TO ALL F G E ALL EMPLOYEES /WIDOWS . I AND MAY KINDLY BE HELPH TO GIVE THE PENDING PAYMENTS .WHICH NOT LYING GRANT STILL YET TO EMPLOYEES PL.
