Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Finance issued a Notification on 02-12-2025 in connection with Restoration of 1/4th Gratuity Allowed in Case of Death in Service. This notification explains the restoration of the commuted portion of gratuity for special family pension recipients. The details of the Notification are as follows
Restoration of 1/4th Gratuity in Death in Service Cases

As per the above-referred Notification, the undersigned is directed to refer to the Ministry of Defence’s O.Ms No. F.2(7)Misc/D-31/PP&R/2020 dated 16.09.2024, dated 25.04.2025, and dated 08.08.2025, on the subject cited above and to state that the matter has been thoroughly examined and it is decided that the benefit of restoration of the 25% commuted portion (1/4th Gratuity) of the Gross pension in respect of special family pensions shall be made in the following manner:
a. In case of 1st recipient receiving a Special family pension, the portion of Gross Pension commuted @25% shall be restored on outliving the period/number of years for which a lump sum amount was paid as per the Commutation Table (Annex-C to Rule 130 (a) of Pension Regulations Vol-I, 2010).
b. In case of other eligible heirs (following the disqualification of the first recipient), only 50% the commuted portion of the pension shall be restored, on outliving the period/number of years for which a lump sum amount was paid as per the Commutation Table (Annex-C to Rule-130 (a) of Pension Regulations Vol-I, 2010).
All similar cases (either before or after this O.M.) may please be revised from the date of issue of this O.M., without retrospective arrears.
This O.M. supersedes all the previous orders/rules on the subject matter.
