I have already published an article about the History of Adhoc Relief Allowances. Today I am writing the history of the Medical Allowance Rates Since 1987. These rates are very useful for the purpose of calculation of arrears with a backdate for the employees who are upgraded with backdate and are given benefits from the previous dates.

According to Finance Division Notification No. F.6(1)R-10/2010-171-2011 dated 24-03-2011, In partial modification of this Division’s O.Ms.No.l(l)lmp/2010-622 and No.F.IG(1)Reg-6/2010-778 both of dated 5’h July, 2010 regarding the subject mentioned above, the undersigned is directed to state that it has been decided in consultation with Ministry of Health that serving/retired civil employees of the Federal Government or member of his/her family, suffering from the following chronic diseases, will be entitled for reimbursement of amount spent on account of purchase of medicines for the medical treatment at OPD:

It is submitted that Ministry of Defence sought the clarification in the matter from the Finance Division (Regulation Wing), which has been clarified by them, vide their Office Memorandum No. F.6(2)R-10/2012-160 dated 10.04.2013.

Discussion on Medical Allowance for Employees of BPS-16 & Above
I am going to discuss with detail about the Medical Allowance for the employees of BPS-16 & Above. Various visitors of GLXSpace.com (Galaxy World) aroused a question that they have been upgraded/promoted from lower scales to BPS-16 and above but their Medical Allowance is the same as they were earlier availing. They asked why the Medical Allowance is not 15 % of their Basic Pay.
