Government of the Punjab, School Education Department has issued a Notification on 01-03-2021 in connection with Academic Session 2021-22 School Education Department Punjab. The details are as under:

In pursuance of the decisions taken in the meeting of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers (IPEMC) Conference conveyed vide letter F.No.1-1/2021-AS, dated 26^th February 2021, the Academic Session for the year 2021-2022 shall start from 1^st August 2021 to 31^st March 2022 for all Educational Institutions in Punjab.

Due to the spread of the COVID-19 and the extension of holidays the students could not complete their courses. The Education Department had to close the educational institutions many times, due to the hike of coronavirus. In the same way, the department in order to cover the courses delayed the examination. Now they decided that the next session 2021-22 is as under:

01-08-2021 to 31-03-2022

Before this, the routine was that session always started on 1st April and ended on 31st March every year.  The matric examinations mostly held in March and Summer Holidays commenced in June. The schools used to re-open after summer vacation in August.  It is a good decision of the Education Department.
