Government of the Punjab, School Education Department issued a Notification on 13-12-2023 in connection with Seniority of ESTs English Over Other ESTs Categories. As per the above Notification, the ESTs (English) previously known as Graduate English Teachers in 1995-97 are senior to all other categories of Elementary School Teachers for promotion to Secondary School Teachers (SSTs). The details are as under:
Seniority of ESTs English Over Other ESTs Categories
The government of the Punjab School Education Department issued a new letter dated 13th December 2023. The letter is about the application for the issuance of general notification to keep EST’s English in basic scale 14 senior. They all are previously graduate English teachers appointed in 1995 to 97. The government should keep them senior in all the other categories of ESTs for promotion as Secondary School Teachers (SSTs).
The section officer receives instructions to refer this application to recommended authorities. Regarding above mentioned subject all the CEOSs/DEOs in the Punjab. The instructions are to comply with the direction of orders dated 01-03- 2017 from the honorable Apex Court in Civil Petition No.1068/ L-2013 in letter and spirit.
According to the instructions all the mentioned ESTs English our most senior. They all are senior in the seniority lists for the case of promotion. For promotion, their seniority numbers are much lower than other ESTs. To put their names above as senior employees in seniority the letter is issued to all chief executive officers and district education officers.
The majority of English graduates are serving the education department as ESTs in BS-14 or 15. For their early promotion most of them forward their requests and applications to higher authorities. But after the hard work of 28 years, they succeeded. It’s a piece of good news for all of them. I hope the concerned offices will follow the instructions. In this way, the English teachers will get their long-standing rights.
