Government of the Punjab, School Education Department issued a Notification on 02-08-2022 in connection with Amendment in Service Rules 2014(School Education) Punjab MA Degree. The details are as under:

Section Recruitment of The School Education Department has written a letter regarding the case of Promotions of employees from BS-17 to BS-18 in School Education Department, Punjab dated 01-08-2022. They declared on 30-09-2020 that MA EDUCATION degree would be considered equivalent to B.Ed.
PROMOTION OF EMPLOYEES FROM BS -17 TO BS-18
The new rule affected the requirements for the promotion of BS-17 employees to BS-18 for those who hold the degrees of MA EDUCATION or MS EDUCATION. So, the rule of School Education Service needs amendment.
What are the requirements for the Promotion of BS-17 to BS-18?
There are two essential conditions for promoting any employee from Scale BS-17 to Scale BS-18.
Master’s Degree (Arts or science) or equivalent degree
*Master’s degree for senior subject Specialist must be in relevant subject
MA (Education) or MEd.
Recruitment of Educators
It is also notified by the School Education Department (SED) that it has been allowing candidates to apply to for the Educators posts by treating them as equivalent to the candidates holding MA or BS honors Degree as per previous rules of recruitment policy.
The Section Officer (recruitment) further says the reference of PST that PST has passed an order dated 14-04-2022 in the case of Muhammad Afzal against Chief Secretary Government of Punjab,
But as of now, an MA Education degree has been stated equally to a BEd. Degree, it was needed to make amendments in Service Rule. So, in this matter! SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT sought guidance from the Regulations Wing of the S&GAD Department. Because it is needed to make amendments to these rules and the order of PST dated 14-04-2022 So that MA (EDUCATION) degree holders employees of BS-17 can be considered for promotion on scale BS-18
