Approval to Pass Students from Class IX to XII

 

At the meeting of the Steering Committee of school Education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh held under the Chair of Education Minister Mr. Saeed Ghani @ Sindh Secretariat today on 2nd June 2020, & the recommendations of the sub-committee have been approved to promote the students from Class IX to XII without further examinations.

 

Starting of Teaching Process

The teaching process in government and private educational institutes across Sindh will be started by looking at the Corona Virus situation in the province, but if private schools want, they can start classes online and invite teachers and non-teaching staff to do so. However, they have to fully implement the SOPs issued by Health department and WHO. Steering committee & subcommittee has been formed by private schools to address the concerns of class I to Viii grade students, which will not only remove these concerns but also plan for the upcoming school year. The subcommittee will set up and submit its proposals within a week regarding the comprehensive implementation of all SOPs.

 

Who Attended Meeting

 

             The meeting was attended by Mr. Syed Khalid Hyder Shah Secretary SE&LD, Mr. Baqir Naqvi, Secretary Colleges, steering committee members Secretary universities and Board Mr. Muhammad Riazuddin, Ms.Tanzilla Ummah Habiba & Ms.Rabia Azfar, Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Dr. Fouzia Khan, Chief Advisor Curriculum wing, Chairman of all Boards & President of the All Private Schools Associations and others. All the members of the steering committee were informed about the minutes of the last meeting and were approved.

 

Students Who Failed in Two Subjects and Private Students

 

                  On this occasion the members of steering committee expressed some reservations, after which it was decided that students who are failed in 2 papers will be given marks in view of the marks of their other subjects, however, Only 33% of passing marks will be given to all failures then they will be given the opportunity to take the test but no date is set for this, as it is not possible in the case of the current Coronavirus. The meeting expressed some reservations on the promotion of private schools children’s from Class I to VIII, on which the provincial minister has constituted a committee consisting of seven members of the steering committee, in which private school Representatives have also been included.

 

Compilation of Report

 

                    This committee will compile its report not only on the promotion of private schools students but also on the new school academic year, as well as the committee’s decision to open schools and if schools are opened, It will submit its report within a week, compiling a full report of the Opening of Schools under the SOPs of the health department. In the meeting, it was decided that all private schools can start online classes if they want, but the teaching system will not be allowed in schools and they will not be able to invite children there. Private schools will be able to call on their teachers and non-teaching staff, but they will have to fully implement the SOPs issued by the Department of Health and WHO and in this regard, the Secretary Education and DG Private schools will be provided the SOPs within a week.

It was also decided at the meeting that parents pay private school fees so that the teachers and their schools can afford their expenses.
Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Mr. Saeed Ghani said that it is our utmost effort to take steps regarding education in the province under the steering committee with all stakeholders.
“We have initiated measures to improve the quality of education in the province and work has been started on the training of teachers,” he said. “We have also launched a mobile application for online education to children, while further work is being done in collaboration with Microsoft,” he said.
